Through our call for proposals, Teiger Foundation offers four grant opportunities for curator-led initiatives that involve contemporary visual art. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions for more details on these criteria.

We offer grants up to $150,000 to fund exhibitions, commissions, performances, public program series, related publications, and other experimental outputs produced by a professional curator or curators at or in partnership with a non-profit presenting organization. These grants aim to address organizations of different scales.

1. We provide support for a single project at an organization with an annual budget above $3 million.

2. We provide support for three years of programming at a smaller organization with an annual budget below $3 million.

Teiger Foundation also offers curators and organizations of any size up to $50,000 for projects in two additional categories through our call for proposals. These opportunities were developed through conversations with curators working in the field, and aim to address gaps in the art funding sector.

3. We support venues who wish to host touring exhibitions. Curators or artistic directors can apply to bring an exhibition originating elsewhere to the distinct context of their own institution and community.

4. We support curatorial research including costs related to travel, convenings, and collaborative investigations around critical issues leading up to an exhibition or other project. As part of this grant, we also offer institutional support for curators to take leave, and compensation support for guest curators to conduct this research.

×

At the moment, we do not fund projects unaffiliated with an established non-profit exhibition space, projects proposed by individual artists, endowments or capital campaigns, or projects that do not involve contemporary art. Our current call for proposals is for curators in the U.S. and territories only.
